Facial masks, according to the active ingredients they contain, fulfill different functions. They are used to clean or peel the skin, remove greasiness, moisturize, tighten, decongest and rest or relax.
They are excellent allies of the health and beauty of the skin, both those that are applied in the dermatological cabinet and those that are prepared at home.
To choose which mask to use, the idea is to start with a good diagnosis of the skin and be clear about what result you want to obtain with the application. It is important to ensure that the components or ingredients used do not cause adverse reactions. Even homemade should be appropriate for each type of skin. And we must remember that natural substances can also cause unwanted reactions.
Six different actions
1 – Purifiers or cleansers: minimize unpleasant glare. They are usually made with astringent plants and clay derivatives. They are very good for closing dilated pores.
2 – Exfoliants: they are designed based on substances that help eliminate dead cells. The skin looks renewed and bright.
3 – Moisturizers: they form a film to retain moisture. They are formulated with substances capable of containing water. They are indicated on dry skin with fine wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid can be used.
4 – Nutritious: they provide extra nutrition, luminosity, and comfort. They contain fatty substances that favor water retention and are antiaging. They usually add vitamin E.
5 – Tensioners: give the skin a rested appearance. Its effects are immediate, “it is the lifting of the masks.” Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) is generally used.
6 – Decongestants: they have active ingredients that soothe the skin. Indicated to place after any congestive treatment such as peels or lasers. They are also effective in skins with rosacea or redness. Chamomile, mallow, hamamelis, aloe vera are generally used.
